■ Development and Production of testing reagents

We are developing new testing reagents using the technical capabilities we have amassed in our work on reagents for our A1c Gear series of glycohemoglobin analyzers for diabetes testing, such as Medidas HbA1c.

Development and Production of Medidas HbA1c

We developed and produce the Medidas HbA1c reagent at our plant in Japan.

Antigen-antibody reaction provides direct measurement of the percentage of HbA1c in total Hb
① Addition

Hemolysate is added to unsensitized latex.

②  Adsorption

HbA1c existing in hemolysate is non-specifically adsorbed into the latex surface. Antibody complexes that bind specifically to HbA1c are then added.

③  Agglutination

The HbA1c on the latex surface and the antibody complexes react, causing latex agglutination. The turbidity of this agglutination indicates the concentration (%) of HbA1c in the specimen.
